Saturday, February 7, 2026 - 7:00 PM - Odyssey Theatre Los Angeles, CA
Directed by Amy Chaffee
"Nick The Greek" is a one-woman show written, produced, and performed by the award winning actress and producer Angeliki Giannakopoulos. It tells the true story of Nick, a Greek immigrant whose dreams stretched far beyond the limits of his homeland.
Spanning forty years, the story begins in a small village near Kalamata, where Nick was born. He survives World War II, learns the trade of tailoring, marries, and becomes a father of three. One day, he arrives home with a single suitcase and tells his wife to pack it-he is leaving for America to chase the dream that had lived in his heart since childhood.
He had heard that in America, dollars grow on trees. But do they? Can he find such a tree? How hard must one work to make dollars grow-and what must be sacrificed along the way? A wife? Children? Heritage? Home?
This is an immigration story-one that offers a deeply human look at a young man's pursuit of the American Dream, a journey shared by millions throughout history. Today, as conversations about immigration continue to evolve, "Nick The Greek" stands as a timely and necessary story. It also serves as a tribute to the children of immigrants, reminding them of the sacrifices their parents made to build a better future.
