The Mission Play - Presented by San Gabriel Mission Playhouse
First performed over 100 years ago, the Mission Play received more than 3,000 performances and was seen by over 2.5 million people before it closed in 1932. This April, you’ll have the chance to experience history first-hand in this brand new adaptation updated for modern audiences as Father Junipero Serra and his followers struggle to bring their faith to the New World, building 21 missions throughout California, struggling with issues of faith, freedom, passion and belonging.
This colorful, lively show, full of history, passion, song and dance is brought to you by the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse, the theater built in 1927 especially for the show.
Thank you all for attending and supporting the Mission Play!
